What's the difference between dissolving and diffusion?

Dissolving is when a substance is broken down within a substance so that bonds are formed between the two substances to create a new substance (physical change). Diffusion is the random motion (Brownian motion) of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration so that the particles are evenly dispersed throughout the solution.
